My first EK2 ... Opinions?

I'm just recently started collecting and was directed to these forums, I just signed up for the assoc. membership and thought I want to start by posting my EK2. Let me know what you think?

Reading these forums has helped me a lot already and I am sure I will learn more as time goes on.

Welcome to the forum. I´m sorry but i dont think the cross is original. The quality is very low.
Big gaps between the frame and core at random places.
The coils ))))) on the frame is blured and random at places.
Details on the core is not so good with an unsymmetrical swastika.

I wasn't to sure what to think of it. I purchased before I started coming to these forums and as I read more I started to wonder if it was real or not.

This I guess is where I am having problems between determining what makes it fake/real.

I know a few of the indicators:
Magentic core - Check
Three Piece Construction - Check
-- but after that is where the lines blur for me and I have problems telling the differences.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Take your time. Do some searching for crosses here on the forum.
Could you tell were you found the cross?

The sad part if it is a fake, is that I bought it from a dealer here in Calgary.

Buy some books on the Iron Cross.
The best one i can recomend is from Gordon Williamson: The Iron Cross of 1939.
It has lots of data and fine photos on all types of the Iron Cross.

Thanks for the suggestion I've been looking around for a copy of that book as I have seen it mentioned on this forum a number of times.

Any one else have comments or suggestions with what is wrong with this cross
