Hi Robert,

The 1939 EK1 is by Rudolf Souval of Vienna.

Sorry, not sure on the 1914 EK1.

Souval, Wein (1939) and Klein, Oberstein (1914). Your 1914 will be marked under the catch with "KO."

Mm, good question. For many years people assumed KO was Königliches Münzamt (Abteilung Orden), which is absolutely 100% discredited now. So why K&Q? It's a long story but the theory has been gaining currency for years, and Wernitz, in his new EK book, did some fresh research and basically confirmed it.

You can read a little bit here, although there's not much in that thread. Best is to read Wernitz on it (which I myself have yet to do).

Well, Trevor, I've read the book of Wernitz. Sometimes the connection between mm and the producer is just his fantasy. It could be even funny when we speak about "D" mark for example. He thinks it's Deumer.

That might be true in some cases; I haven't read it closely yet. Nevertheless I believe KO to be Klein, Oberstein. Also I believe Deumer used a D mark in early years.

D on Bavarian MVK´s is accepted as Deschler.
