    Car Boot Sale 1939 EKII

Good afternoon guys, here is the WWII cross for appraisal ...

The cross is 3 piece and measures 44.5mm wide and each arm is 26.5mm wide. The ring is marked '933' nothing else.

    Obverse

    Reverse

    the edge

    with flash

Again any and all opinions are appreciated.

    Many thanks, Ian.

    Hi Ian,

I'm sorry to say that I have bad news about your cross.... it is a well known fake and the stamping is '333'. They are probably the most realistic fakes available and have fooled many, many collectors over the years.

If you search for '333 fake' on the forum, you will find many threads about them.

    Regards - Danny

EDIT: A great old thread that discusses the traits of these crosses core and frame flaws:

      333

The easiest way to tell this fake is the second "1" in 1813, it has a chip on top of the one. Jim

Unfortunately, many french collectors believe that is a genuine cross.

        but, I agree, it's a fake

I've just studied it with a magnifying glass and you're right the right top edge is missing

I REALLY appreciate your help guys ... I paid £100 for the two EKII 14 and 39 and 25 and a 40 year civil crosses

Ian there are collectors who would still buy this (if you wanted to sell it) so that they have an example of the 333 in their collection. Its good reference and with the Floch forms an instant fakes gallery.

Again many thanks for the comments. I did buy the medals to sell on as they are not (and never really were) my field.

                    Cheers, Ian.
