For reference here is an old thread that includes a comparison study of K&Q core types by Douglas and Robert and some examples of the 'A' type K&Q core.

Had a look - I would put it to the one before it.

            Hi Flemming,

You did not because that core chart is flawed. It does not show K&Q's nicest and earliest core, which is the one you have on your unmarked EK2, and also it shows a few cores that are the same but are called different. The only good existing reference for K&Q cores at the moment is Dietrich and George's EK1 book.
            Best regards,

I agree, totally. An excellent work. Their EKII book will be a masterpiece I know, like everything else they have done in the past. My attempt to make a chart for K&Q cores was poor at best.

That was the first line-up that Robert did - since then it was redone . Correctly as Trevor pointed out there are actually only 3 different cores shown there . I did a inverted color contrast picture to better pick up the 3 core types depicted which were not all cores , but were only the ones Robert had at that time , merely for the purpose to show K&Q used some different cores .
I thought I had posted this revised selection that shows that there were only 3 cores amongst the 5 pictures . First version charts are still out there and still unfortunately get used before Dietrich & Georges Book came out .

Putting the chart up and ... comparing those 3 types I forgot to mention the comparison I quickly did in post 34 does not really match ... which afterwards made me search my old files and found the amended chart I forgot I had .
As Trevor mentioned the early core( correctly a total of 4 cores ) which EK2 Flemming has is not on the chart . The earliest core K&Q . I received just a couple of weeks back an EK1 with the same early core -- I had not had the time to compare core the yet - until now .

This has become a really interesting thread, I think

So I have the earlist core (my UM) and a type 2 (MM 65)?

It sometimes impresses me, how many variants just one maker did produce.

Again, thank you all for the inputs, I really appriciate it.

I got Dietrich and Georges book of the EK 1 (and a lot of the other books from there webpage) and I am really looking forward to their EK II book.

                    Best Regards
                    Flemming

I believe this is an early K&Q example as well...

                          Nice crosses Robert and Douglas

Interesting that K&Q used, like 4 cores. But the same frame throughout the war?

                              Thanks Douglas,

I had to keep this cross. It was just too nice.
