This is a very nice example of the type attributed to Meybauer.

            Nice intermediate clasp.

Just for the record, why are these connected to Meybauer?
            Kind regards,
            Giel

              In my opinion:
              1. this type is probably a Meybauer because of design similarities, but it's not 100% sure;
              2. there is no such thing as an "intermediate clasp."
              Best regards,
              Streptile

                  Hi Jon,

I have more faith in that type than most do. I've seen one on a bar that looked great (didn't I send you pics? I can't find them at the moment).
                  Best regards,
                  Streptile

I don't think I saw the one on a bar, but I like them
George has the only other one I've seen so far
I've called this one 'intermediate' in the past too! adding to the confusion
                    regards

The idea of an "intermediate" Clasp design, or an "intermediate" Schinkel design, is just a total fantasy, I'm sure you would agree. The designs did not evolve, from scalloped dateboxes, to only minimally scalloped dateboxes, to flat-side dateboxes. It's not like it was a natural progression from a very narrow Schinkel, to one slightly wider, to the final LDO-size cross. There is no biology in it. The reality is that different makers had different designs until someone said, "hey, make the dateboxes flat-sided" or "hey, make all the crosses 44mm." Then everyone conformed. So what some people call "intermediate" Schinkels or Clasps are just different makers' early designs, that were more or less narrow, or more or less scalloped.

"Intermediate" is a term that should be phased out.
                      Best regards,
                      Streptile

Thanks a lot for the new info and positive feedback.

I learned again today about the spange.

I agree with Trevor about the term Intermediate, on specific WWII era all the decorations was made from "many factory" not just one ( for many many reasons, same today for millions pieces production..... 2/3 factory made that. Crashing tooling of one factory, grow production..etc.) Same on past, with one more difficult... not all the factories produced the same items for long time and this create Cross, spange and others made before mm LDO/ PKN directive without mark and probably for strictly time.
Intermediate is not a correct name, is probably better say .... " unknown "

                        IMHO

I totally agree in Trevor's spange creationist theory vs Darwinism
