Paddywhack, Johannes Floch didn't have nor did he manufacture die! He merely placed orders with badge/medal manufacturers for anything from IC 1st., gold/silver wound badges, PAB's, IAB's, KvDK 1st. and many other medals and badges.

The 'dealers' would 'flock' to his table and within hours and before a show opened to the public his suit cases were empty!

All sorts of medals and badges came from his luggage...with these hungry dealers ripping apart the plastic or paper bags to get to the goods. Quite a sight....medals and badges ranged from $25. to $50 and discounted further if one bought in quantity and ofcourse most dealers did!

His 'wares' could be pristine or aged....

Johannes 'hit' the major shows and this activity repeated itself for years!
    Regards,
    Dave

So if he had the original makers build them, are they fakes?

I don't think they were "original" manufacturers, were they? I thought he simply had some high-end repros that he "aged" and "weathered".

Can anyone post a picture of the face of Mr. Flock? Let's put a pic of the purest form of evil this hobby has the misfortune of dealing with.

          Disgusting man.

            Hi,

So if Floch did not manufacture these pieces how can we attribute them to him? Who did he get to make these very good repros.

I have a picture of him somewhere, I"ll dig it up. There have been classic "battles" here before on this man, do a search and all should be revealed...

                  Seba...love the new look!!!

Yes, break out the picture but along with it please (if you have them) show the 'end users' who introduced and made tremendous profit from the wares that he sold to them only to be solidly injected into the collector market as we have it today!

Good bad or otherwise.....ol' Johannes wouldn't have had a market BUT FOR dealers and he sure didn't sell retail!

                    Dave,

Do you know Herr Floch personally, or do you just know of him?

Okay, Dave, but maybe some of the newer Forum readers don't know your true relationship to the infamous Mr. F.

                          Hi,

I have been collecting for 30 years and this is the first time I have heard of Mr. Floch. My first introduction to his name and his "wares: was thru this forum, but I still am not sure of what other repros this individual sold. I have seen plenty of references to the floch Iron Cross 1st class but no other awards. Are there other awards that he peddled? Are their pictures of them? How do we know which ones are flochs? Help?!

Gary, that's part of the problem....The repo 'sect' was generally well hidden and unless you were part of the dealer community you were ignorant and a willing vict!

                            Harsh words today but necessary.............

I wonder if any of the (current) popular dealers wouldn't care to offer commentary.....

I've always wondered about Mr. Flock, and his badges. He obviously knows, or has access to, all the info we do...
So why doesn't he sort out the 'problems' with his EK's. Or, has he? This means there are perfect repros going around, (or ones that would fool almost all of us) and we are accepting these as real. And if he makes perfect repros, he's obviously making damn good RK's etc.
We latch on to the obvious 'Flock' red flags, while letting through all the others. Maybe the short pin/low date etc. is just to keep us thinking we're detecting the fakes (for want of a better phrase) while buying his 'others'

If there IS a member who knows Flock, I think he should do a bit of covert research. Who are making these EK's?
I think what I'm saying is that this hobby is a nightmare minefield! I don't wanna live in an episode of CSI, I want to enjoy the war! (that came out wrong)
sorry guys, it's early and I'm rambling
