    Mint EK2 with issue packet

    Hi all

As requested here is the EK2 that I have offered on the sale forum, currently this item is sold, but I would be more than happy to inform the buyer about any hesitation that the forum may have towards it.

I picked this EK2 up from Mike K whom as stated is a life time member, and in my opinion also a expert when it comes to crosses of the Whermacht.

All your thoughts and opinions would be much appreciated, I am sure it will now make for some interesting discussion.

          Here's a close-up of one of these "49" EK 2s.

The beading and core characteristics match exactly those of this infamous "L11" EK 1 fake attributed to Johannes Floch.

Mike K is a friend of mine so I know he won't mind my pomme comments.

I'd think twice about considering that packet as genuine to be honest. I'll come back with a more informative reply for you. Wait out.

                Kind regards,

                Marcus

All looks good to me this end, I would be happy to keep it in my collection should the buyer not want the EK2. As I say Mike K and I have given this the fine tooth, and have both come up with the same frame of mind, that it is .

You are of course entitled to reach any conclusion that you are comfortable with, but for me these are not good and I would not have one in my collection of authentic EKs.

I enjoy all Pomme comments, especially after mother England beating Oz in the Rugby World Cup. I am a Kiwi, so I had a little laugh, especially after the wallabies beat the ABs in the semis.

Oooh there were some tense moments in that game....still it will be a different story next time as all our guy's will be too old !!!

Ok the packet, right I don't want to upset anyone but this is my opinion on the other side of the world.

The desigantion: Well they will often vary to some lesser or greater degree and the inclusion of all the printing factors etc etc Of which there are a multitude of things.

But mainly for me on this packet is the 'dropped' 2 and it's distance from the word 'Class'.

This gives a classic, non-level appearance of the desigantion and in combination with the spacing between the 'award title', 'class' & 1939......see how they all vary....thats not a good sign in this instance at all.

The date: 1939 I'm afraid this is very poor in my opinion, just for one can you see the inconsistency in number nine's.

The paper itself: Well again I'm looking at a pic, but I wouldn't mind guessing on this one from I can see. If you were to put this under a black light, you would I expect see a 'frost' over the surface of the packet lighter than tan packet. You can see from the pic where the makers name is white scuff's almost in the paper. This type of paper I do not think is genuine to the period of pre 1945.

The makers name: A hard one, again they can vary to any amount.....some genuine ones even look fake . I would discount this one as genuine in my novice opinion. It simply dosen't conform to my own examples and pic's of genuine examples I have from packets to sheilds, 1938 to 1945 (yes 1938)
I don't like it if anything it's poor in a couple of area's....but then better than genuine examples in others that I'm aware off. The front gives it away overall to be honest.....I really don't feel happy about it.

I'm sorry to say, I do think this is a fake. The cross I have no idea about at all.

                        Kind regards,

                        Marcus

Cheers for your comments, now all we need is for Mike K to put in his opinion, as he is the person that I brought the award from in the first place, let me firstly thank both yourself and George for your comments. I am sure the buyer will read this before he sends me money of any kind, and make up his mind as well, again I am not fussed over all if he does not want to buy it, after all it is only a EK2, but there is money involved, thus it should be discussed if people think it is no good. I would appreciate us all waiting for Mike Ks comments to see where he brought the EK2 from in the first place, and his belief in the award to be true to its day. Again I believe that this is a fine example, and also rate the packet it was awarded in, it is not the first of its type that I have owned or sold, but it is the first time I have come up against a little discussion over one, this is a good thing. One thing I have always liked about the EK2 issue packets is the inconsistant stamping's used. Again this might just be me and again if the buyer does not want it, I would never put it to the devils at evilbay ha ha, interestingly I have had more than one person ask to buy this EK2 here in Australia in the short time it has been in my possession. I it is not brought I will put it to my Panzar soldier waiting in the dark for his next award.
