    EK2 ribbons

as the EK2 was only worn on the day of it being awarded then after that on formal or parade occasions did the recipient get two ribbons with it one that was worn with the award itself and the other to be used on the uniform from the second button down or did they just use the ribbon that came with the cross to attach to the uniform
    regards gaz

From pictures one can often see, that the ribbon was quite long as the soldier got his IC2. Long enough for the button hole + parade mounting I guess.

On my court mounted bars the ribbon is not as wide as the ribbon awarded with the medal. Regards Chris

The soldiers were expected to be handy with a needle and thread, or there was usually someone in the company that was, they would sew in the button hole ribbon themselves.

The parade mounted medals were done by uniform effect shops or tailors, and they would usually have a stock of ribbon on hand to make the medal bars. I am not 100% sure if they always used the actual awarded medal in these instances, but it would seem likely, at least in most occasions.

Single ribbon bars were usually on hand to buy outright, if that is what they desired, as opposed to the button hole ribbon.
