    german cross in gold find

    hello all

a few years ago a friend of mine bought a metaldetector and we tried it on a field in my hometown...
we took turns on using the thing and we said to eachother :
the one who finds it keeps it

now i found a geman cross in gold ..he found a IC2 and lots of old nails and other rubbish
later we heard that during the war a german battallion was stationed there..

    GET TO THE POINT RICHARD

the DKiG looks real but the reverse doesn't look like the ones posted here on the forum
there are no attachment rivets and makers mark

if someone can help me i'll gladly send the pictures

Sorry if the picture offended one or two of the members. That's how a lot of the 'ground-dug' relics some of you own are found.

    Reality Check!

it's a fake one i know that now moremad
it was probably trown away by someone who saw it was a fake and i found it
i took it apart and saw that the parts where glued in place
as soon as i have borrowed the digital camera of my brother inlaw i'll post the seperate parts for all to see the piece of s**t i found

Thanks for sharing that with us.

It is amazing what you find with metal detectors.

            cottage industry!

Isn't there a 'cottage industry' in Europe offering searches of battle fields etc etc? I wonder if items like these are 'plants' to offer the clients something to find and thus keep the reputation of the tour guide going!

              ??????

Hello R...? (change your name please)

              Thats really odd.
It's getting beter and beter. Now we can find fakes under the ground too moremad .

How deep did you go until you found this Dk?
Are there special firms that make fakes and plant them under the ground?

              Greetings Nick

the DK wassn't very deep (about 1 shovel deep) 30cm orso

i'm investigating it myself and i recently found a antique shop in breda (about 8km from where i live) that sells third reich items too
(most of them fake BTW there are some real items there to i think but i don't have the knowledge yet to spot them without help from others)

anyway he told me the same story about the battalion stationed here(don't know is it's true yet)
and that there was an old collector living in the area where i found the cross and he bought most of his stuff from from him
                but that man died

that's all i know for now

                regards

PS . Nick why shoud i change my name....i wanted to use my full name but it was to long

Sounds like someone buried it and was going to leave it there for a year or two then dig it up and flog it off as a ground dug original. Happened to fake RK's before.

                    Hello Richard,
I hope you didn't visit the antique store I've in mind ?
That man is a real storyteller,in the meantime he sells fakes by dropping them here and there in his store.
Years ago I visited him and he told me nothing but lies,I looked at his stuff up-stairs and most of it turned out to be fake.
                    Don't buy from him !

                    Jos.

i went in there ones as i saw a EK 2 in the window and he said i have more so we went up ...i didn't buy anything from him because it looked to crappy
he attends a show here in Breda with alot of fake s**t i don't know if there are even real ones there (i don't have the knowledge yet)

i learned so much on forums like this one that he can't fool me with his BS

                      one small story

i was walking to the back of his store and i saw a alterrain vehicle
(that was the first tiime i was there) he came towards me and said that's an authentic German sdkfz bla bla ....i said ow cool ..as i walked around it i saw big letters SKODA ..well you can amagine what i thought

                      regards

                        Yeah Richard,
                        That's him,so he's still in the business.
Did he show you his "dagger collection",now that's a scream !
He told me that all his stuff in his "collection" came from prisoners of war etc.....
He also had some overpainted helmets with fake decals on it.

Ik zou er uit de buurt blijven of enkel gaan kijken om eens flink te lachen,ik vond het echt een zielig figuur toen ik er was,met al die verhalen.

                        Groeten,
                        Jos.
