    EK1 Spange for review. Schmidthaeussler

    Hello guys,

first of all sorry for the sloppy pictures.
This spange is offered as a fake one, but i believe this is a genuine Eugene Smidhaussler clasp, before unknown maker.
    Can anybody confirm that?

    Greetings

    Spange

Fake, it is close but there are differences - catch, pin, shape of the claws (looking at them from the back) and other areas. Compare it against mine and you will see the differences. Jim

I think it looks fine (although the swastika has poor definition)

It could be a cast of an original, but it would be hard to judge that from these photos.
      Best regards,
      Streptile

Looking for ROUND BUTTON 1939 EK1 Spange cases (LDO or PKZ)

          Hi Max,

Here is the one you refer to in the other thread:

You may be right that these two pieces are the same, but to me the screwback above looks like this Unknown Maker fake (top photo below) and the one in this thread looks more like an authentic Unknown Maker Spange (bottom photo below).

I guess we need better photos of the screwback to be sure.

I've no doubt the 2 Schmidt posted, SB and this last which started the thread, are same and fake.

No more pics of SB EKI clasp are needed, I've checked the feathers of the breast and are same as you told on specific discussion.

Sorry, but your opinion took me in confusion and usually prefer to ask rather than remain in doubt.

            Thanks a lot .

Ciao and sorry for my not perfect English.

Here is a comparison between two fake and one original that comes from my personal and humble experience.

I hope there are interventions for a possible constructive discussion

Same color same differences between original and fake.

              Ciao

I also have an original example of this clasp and to me the details look soft in the first one posted in this thread. It appears to be cast from an orginal.

                  Regards,
                  Eric

                    Hi Eric,
could you be so kind to post some pics of your clasp ?

In my opinions no one was cast made, but....... never say never.

                    Thanks for your effort.

                    Ciao

I can't tell you how it makes my heart feel good to see my old mint spange being used to reveal fakes. She was a cased treasure.

Hi Robert, what a lovely clasp. Huge amount of frosting left!
                        You sold it?

Yes, for awhile I had two of them. They and their cases were in stone mint condition. Gordon Williamson told me he had never seen one in mint condition before...and I found two. They're gone now into some other collection(s).

Stunning example Robert!! They don't come any nicer than that. It must've been tough to let someone pry it from your hands! And to think you had two of them.....

Here's mine (sorry about the amateur photography)

Wonderful example, one of the finest!

All you need to do is set your white balance in your camera before shooting. It took me awhile to learn this too. I've photo-edited it a bit...

                              Thanks for posting,
