    RK grouping

Any thoughts on this grouping from Herman Historica upcoming OCt 15 auction. This looks like a juncker and from the description and weight is an 800 marked only cross. Any thoughts on this? Also this auction house requires a 20% commission with a value added tax. Does anyone have any idea what the amount of a value added tax is for these things? Thanks

Tom, I'm sure you are aware by now that HH isn't for the 'novice collector'....you better know your stuff with this group!!!

Anyway, my first impression was that the cross in the picture was NOT the profile of a Juncker but rather it appears to be closer to K&Q.....

      Thanks Dave-

That is why I posted it. The arms do look fat like a K&Q, but the date and ring look more like a juncker. Also, it does not have the fat ring of a K&Q. I think it is interesting that in the cross posted above this one on the auction site, there is a close-up of the cross hatching, but not on the photo of this cross. I would think from the limited detail that they have on the photos of any of their items, it would be tough to go ahead and lay down any money, as with this level of information, how can one tell? Stay away from this? Thanks

Tom, I have no doubt that the Cross is Juncker....I was more interested in the cross in the PHOTOGRAPH!!!

The items in and of themselves are probably OK but I fear a 'put together' to add value...

My immediate thought when I saw that pic was "put together". Groups are a very tricky thing to buy. Completely original ones are fairly rare...even for lesser awards. An RK group...you better know EXACTLY where it came from. Creating "groups" is a cottage industry in Europe and elsewhere. True groups have a "look" to them. Its hard to describe, but they have "character"...little bits of what antique dealers call ephemera that round them out. The put togethers are usual "sterile" looking...like this one. Its always possible that this set was split from a complete group...who knows, but I wouldn't buy it for any more than the value of the individual pieces (provided they are real)..

              Hello
To patrick : this is a non official badge and I believe it was devoted for members of the 90. Pz.Gre.Div. (or to some specific units within that latter division).
              Regards

                Tom,

To answer your question about tax, there isn't any added in the case of their shipping to the U.S. You would pay the 20% auction commission plus shipping/insurance.

If the actual value is declared, you would of course also pay import duty on it.

Would that not be reflected in the amount of inusrance that was taken out on the piece, subjecting it to a tax?
