    Thanks Ron

Thanks Ron, Yes I'm old enough too. I started collecting in 1952. I remember the movies you mentioned and I agree 90% of the stuff was original. As a matter of fact, Till Kiwi (Eduard Kiefer) told me he wore his original Knights Cross in the movie "The Bridge". I asked him about if in the early 70's at a OdR reunion. My goal here was to get any "specific" info. I remember the old Shotgun News adds, I guess Hollywood did the same thing we did. Thanks, Tom

But I've seen it before...ask a simple question and the thread go's in a hundred different directions and never gets answered. Thanks Juoneen, at least you gave me a start and tried to help !
In the film The Longest Day, Jurgens was loaned Blumentritts medal bar and orders from his widow.

In Downfall, the producers wanted original orders, and were willing to pay to buy or 'rent' them, but they eventually went to the props dept of Theaterkunst, Berlin. (Who have an extraordinary collection of orig pieces).

There are no answer to that question! As the guys here are trying to tell you, in the early films, they often used original medals and awards, as thay where everywhere and didn't cost much.
Where they buy now? Just look at the net, there are hundreds of places to buy them, and differents prices! I really don't think "Hollywood" have a single prefered seller of these... And what is the difference anyway?!

There are no need to be offended and pissed of, people are just trying to help...

        Merry Christmas

I agree, this is absurd. On a discussion forum, of all places! Can't everyone just stick to the topic and stop offering interesting photos and pieces of information that are great to know, but are not responsive to Tom's question. Sheesh. Some people.
            Best regards,

              Streptile !!!! THANK YOU !!!!!

Streptile, Thank you ! It's refreshing to have someone who see's how difficult it is sometimes to just get an answer to a simple question ! A couple of the answers were helpful I thank them for that info. I was afraid of this happening before I started the thread but..... I'll not ask any more you can bet on that. ! Thanks again, Tom
