Here is what the stats look like as of No. 45. Because there are so many makers not all the MM are shown on the horizontal axis but you get the idea. "100" i a high frequency for instance.

I'm curious how accurate any of these Rarity Stats are anymore. I would bet at least 30% of these crosses reported on these threads have changed hands a few times grossly over-stating the numbers.

        Whatcha all think?

        Comment

Well, I have noticed a drop in participation that has been around for a while. Thats prolly attributed to my own low participation level. The accuracy has never been the strong suite of these threads, simply because the sampling is so small from a statistical point of view. That with the low rate of participation means that people posting crosses twice or more isn't really an issue. I do not have any control of the process of posting crosses here.

In the past people have notified me when they sell or buy crosses outside the forum and without a state of the art tracking system, that will simply have to do. If anyone think's of a better solution, feel free to share it with me.

I will continue to hold these stats as long as there is a single member here who feels they serve a usefull purpose.

Thank you for your continued support.

Hello guys,I was thinking that is it possible to restart this ek2 rarity status thread all over again to mantain the accuracy of them all?
Antti, you can maybe start a thread again and everyone who wishes to participate will post a reply and name all of their ek2s,be it marked/unmarked and their makers. There should only be a posting for each member and edit from there only. Then you can collate the results maybe on paper then transfer them on e thread again

            Just my thought

I must admit that after a couple of posts here I haven't added anything for a few years, mainly due to the fact that I was wondering if the statistics were a true reflection - I don't mean anything against Antti as I think he does a great job with the information he is given.
But I wonder, as Darrell has said, if members are contributing the numbers on their purchases and on their sales. I have bought many EKs from the estand and other sources but wonder if the members I bought from have already added the cross to the list. How many EKs have been posted here for the second, third, fourth time?

Very sound thinking... A recount may be in order like you say.

Thank you Robert, I'm going to print that out and frame it - no-one has ever accused me of that before!

Anyway, on a more serious note, how about setting a date, probably over a few days to give everyone a chance to post, whereby anyone who has EKs in their collection can post their crosses for the stats? That way a snapshot can be made after everyone has posted and may give a more accurate reflection of what EKs are held in collections by members here. I realise that it will soon be out of date but maybe it can be done on a regular basis - say every couple of months?
                  For example:
Between the dates of 10th - 15th October, anyone with EK2s in their collection can post what they have, marked, unmarked, round 3, schinkel etc etc and the stats can be drawn from that.
Between the dates of 20th - 25th October anyone with EK1s in their collection can post................ you get the idea................
I'm sure there may well be flaws in the idea but I've just finished a 12 hour night shift so I can be excused any daft ideas at the moment!
This is just my humble idea that occured in the wee small hours and I don't take it for granted that Antti will agree or even be willing to continue compiling these stats as we know he does this voluntarily and his time and efforts must be appreciated and respected.

Certainly sounds like a plan, ive not posted anything form the estand just incase its been put up before, only what ive had from outside sources, which unfortunately isnt more than a few in number every little helps :P

it might be an idea to do this on a yearly cycle etc, i suppose you run the risk of losing information from past members or those that arent checking back so frequenlty but it should provide interesting results, especially in the form of that graph above, very easy to read!!

I have got another 3 EK2's. One maker marked 27 on the ring and the other two unmarked. Cheers, Torsten.

Discussing these issues is very sound and I believe that the stats should respond to the wishes of the people who keep them alive. That is, you. But this discussion should be held in a another thread, because the purpose of this stats thread is to give members a chance to post their crosses and for me to compile the results, how imperfect they may be. So to keep this thread as clean as possible, please start up a seperate thread here on crosses or in the association forum or in die kneipe.

                        Thank you.
