I hope Chris is able to obtain better photos from the IWM.

Thank you all, for clarifying the 1939 date on the Deumer Catalog.

If the IWM only had the one example of a cased RK with oakleaves and swords I have some colour photos at home somewhere I could post, taken in the 70' or early 80's I think.

Please do. The IWM has two examples. The one with S&L Oakleaves and Swords (which was in a case) and the one with the "unknown" Oakleaves and Swords.

For what its worth here is a poor enlarged photo of the front of the oaks and swords I photographed at the IWM.

Thanks for sharing that photo and if you have any more it would be great to see them.

This is the S&L set attached to a K&Q cross.

Of course I didn´t buy it as an original, but it would be interesting to know more about it, since I find Dietrich Maerz´article about S&L OLs and swords interesting.
Couldn´t find exactly this version among the sets pictured in the article.
I enjoy the posts from you and the other members on WAF! If i may say that there is a book called "BRAVERY.COURAGE,and VALOUR by Adrian Forman w/Graphic Design by Mike Tucker. It was published in 2008 and (prehaps one of you members has it).I know that AMAZON.COM has it and several guys have three figures on it,but a few used copies are fairly priced. It is 419 pages of the most beautiful photos of the SPAINISH CROSSES,all the classes and the S.C. W/DIAMONDS.The K.C OF THE I.C. FROM THE K.C.all the way up to the magnificent Golden OAKLEAFS WITH SWORDS AND DIAMONDS awarded to Oberst Hans-Ulrich Rudel including the lapel pin which i never saw photos of and the resting place of a true hero of the Third Reich! Also a photo of A.H presenting the award and the case that went with it.Included are the famous Generals,Admirals,Luftwaffe,Kriegsmarine men who were awarded the classes of the K.C.Magnificent color photos of the Documents which are a treasure in themselves! If anybody would like to see the incredible photos in this book i have Foremans e-mail as well as Tucker's.I have books back from the 60s and this is truly a book i will always be glad i bought!CDR PS.Their is a huge amount of information on all the classes of these very rare awards as well as dimensions of all of them and the markings are large to see!

                  Here are a couple more.

I took these in the days before digital cameras so have had to scan them from the original photos.

                  I do have more somewhere.

Great!! It's wonderful to see these in color, as the IWM photos we see are almost always in black and white.

If you look closely, you can see the absence of flaws on the Oakleaves, the 8 "dots" on the crossguards of the Swords and the beading "bleedover" on the top left of the K&Q cross.

If you find more, it would be terrific to see them!

Thank you for posting these photos Allan. Is there any chance that the other photos that you have include images of the "unknown" oakleaves and swords ?

I will have to dig around and see what I can find.

I remember seeing and photographing a number of different awards, from the IWM 'reserve' collection, I had to write to the department in advance asking for an appointment and what medals, awards I wanted to photograph. There's some useless information for you!!!

Not as useless as you might think Allan,

I am going to have to go through the same hoops because the medals are seemingly not on public display and in storage plus they have just reorganised the medal room.

Hopefully however, the KC's will be found and I will get some images to post here.

Again many thanks for your images,

                          Chris

p.s. of course I could always get on a plane and go over. Its only 12,000 miles and a couple of days in the air.
