09.05.1945 Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes as Oberstleutnant and Fhr. of Panzer-Kampfgruppe Hobe under XIII.SS-Armee-Korps.
I have a wartime picture from may 1945 in uniform wearing his KC.

      Best regards

The war was ending 08. May 1945 ! If Cord von Hobe not listed in the "Scherzer" knights cross winner book, he was not a knights cross winner !
But please post the original photo.

Sir with all do respect I collect KC's and not the stories behind the cross. So if you say he is not a recipiant fine by me! I don't have a problem at all. But I can tell you he had a KC with a very rare sprungring
Concerning the picture you can come to Belgium and inspect it yourself. Feel free.

According to von Hobe's own account, he was promoted to Oberst and at the same time was awarded the Ritterkreuz between May 2/3 by Max Simon via telephone (see Franz Josef Merkl's ''General Simon Lebensgeschichten eines SS-Führers, p. 383-4). Interestingly, Max Simon received his EK2 (WWI) for his border service in Silesia after the war ended on July 1919.

He is also listed in Fellgiebel p 229
" V Hobe, Cord Obstlt. Fhr. E. Kampfgr. XIII SS-A.K."

So he even fell under the order that allowed all KC applications to be attributed in the 3 - 11 may 1945 timeframe, which was prior to the much discussed "Dönitz-Erlass" of all KC attributions AFTER the capitulation.
Interested in all E. Reitz Uniformwerke items.

That's a stunning purchase. Its nice to know he survived the war after his imprisonment.

                                Kevin,

this is a stunning cross with a very rare loop.

However, Cord v. Hobe was NOT a Knights Cross winner. His first proposal was denied by Hitler on 10. April, the second one was too late nor were the people authorizing it authorized to do so.
A Knights Cross awarded on the 9. May 1945 could as well have been awarded on 21. December 2012 - the legal case is wrong in both cases.

Von Hobe was member of the OdR and got his Knights Cross most likely "awarded" from Fellgiebel. Where he got the nice Juncker from we might never know, but for sure not from the PKZ or somebody form the Third Reich during its existence.

I will change the title of this thread because we don't want to be accused that we do no know our documentation (Scherzer, page 116 and the fact that no Knights Cross can be awarded to troops that have been captured or have captitulated).
