The cross in the photo looks fake too, kind of half a Grand cross. I'm assuming its added to the photo. He clearly got the award, but it would be interesting to know if he ever received a cross.

seeing the date of issue he most likely never received one! Hence why editing the picture - no uniform, no cross but still wanted to have a memory.

I want to share something truly special: the medals and awards of SS-Obersturmbannführer Otto Weidinger, that were displayed during his funeral at Aalen (Germany) on January 10, 1990.

This comes from a private footage that was kindly sent to me by Thomas Zimmer; the credits goes to him.
