    Hi Frank,

I cannot offer any meaningful commentary on a document which you saw online, for which we have no images to judge by. Perhaps it's real? Perhaps it's fake? That said, I do not place any weight on the 5.5.44 date.

I do agree with your statement that typically the approval signature was made relatively close to the award date. There are exceptions to every "rule" though.

Regarding the von Schwerin document that Sepp posted, what do you think about the HPA stamp and Burgdorf's signature?

    Regards,
    John

      Frank,

Perhaps you are familiar with this document which Sepp had posted earlier in this same thread? Please note the award date. I find it to be germane to our discussion.

While executed on a different typewriter and perhaps on a different day, you will see that Burgdorf was signing VB's during this period.

      Regards,
      John

Thank you for posting Petrus. It's neat to see two examples done on the same day. Note the minor differences in the Maisel signature!

                Best,

Funny I have one proposed on February 1st and approved on the 8th and was typed with the normal one, on 16th looks like they used again the Führer one.
