    Gallery of common EK FAKES

Had nothing to do and made this small gallery of common Iron Cross fakes.
I think it could help some of the new guys here. If you have any more fakes, please post them.

    Cheers.

      Hello Peter,

I've mentioned before that I haven't a clue about 3 Reich items so don't laugh but, what makes those crosses pictured so obvious that you can tell?

        Excellent idea!

I'll be interested in my first EK1 soon.

BTW Thanks for your advice when I asked about EK2's a few months ago - it was much appreciated. A mm44, mm65 and an unmarked EK2 have made their way into my tiny collection of crosses since then.

        Cheers,
        Peter

Not easy to explain in one go, but please run away if those crosses are near you. They are very common and you will soner or later stumble over them.

          Cheers.

The first one is the hated "Floch". Floch crosses with a needle back tends to have a L15 mark. This cross is marked L73.

              Cheers.

Thanks for your posting and your helpful advices. As a newbe one needs to learn about fakes or you will get burned. <O</O

Now I am almost able to spot a Floch. They have a distinct characteristic look at the front. I think they often look too nice. The wideness´of the pin at the back is also a good tell.<O</O

                    <O</O

The core metal on the second cross looks strange. The material of the pin also seems lacking the right patina.. Is that a tell? <O</O

The numbers on cross no:3 looks a bit strange. Is that a tell?

Here is another fake. Marked either with 333 or 666.

                      Cheers.

If the 333 cross was unmarked, would you still be able to spot it as a fake?
