I took in a small load today and found with your help a couple of pieces have problems. I am pretty confident this cross is fine but figured I had better check to be safe.

It is hard to get a clear picture of these but the font is correct. The colors are off because I used a flash on most of these pictures.

No, a friend bought it at a garage sale in Canada about a year ago. It looks much nicer without the flash photography.

its not the one on weitze 'site! no sctatches on the obverse of weitzes, and the area under the 1813 date is not the same(no residue)

I do not think they are the same cross.
If you look at the 5 in the 935, you can see a scratch in the one started the thread. But that scratch is missing on the one from Weitze.

Or atleast, I can't see it on the Weitze Cross.

weitzes cross is still for sale on his site, this cross is in syracuse, new york. they both have similar upper arm core residue right under the beaded edge of the frame, but that is the only place. the painted core of bobs here in the usa is totally different than the one in german dealer hands. just notice bobs painted core and its various scratches in the 3 o clock arm, they are not present in weitzes, among other differences.

If they are not the same cross (and I certainly don't personally know, either way) the paint phenomenon is a very interesting one.
