    German Cross value???

    Hi there,

I've been offered a German Cross in Gold, 5 rivet, very good condition apart from the enamel on the swastika is chipped, about 60% of the area of the swastika, but is just the top of the enamel, it still looks black all over.

The guy is wanting £650 UKP, does that seem reasonable, considering the damage to the enamel??

The seller reckons 5 rivets are rarer??

    Hi Lenny

Have you read the excellent article on the Wehrmacht Awards website regarding the German Cross?
If you haven't it is well worth reading though a couple of times:
    http://wehrmacht-awards.com/german_c...cross_main.htm

C.E. Juncker of Berlin was the only manufacture of a 5 rivet DK.

For precise details on this type of DK have a read of the following information on the main page:

    http://wehrmacht-awards.com/german_c...r/cejunker.htm

If it is an original DK the price sounds good to me. Any case included? Are you able to post pictures?

    Good luck!

      Hi Lenny,

      yes, it's a dealer's price, not a present.
My opinion don't buy with chipped svastika so much, tomorrow if you want to sell it you will have problems. Buy only if the other parts are very goods and the price is more low.

the marker is Juncker and is more rare than a 20 or 1, but not so rare as one with marker marked "2" to the pin.

Deutsches Kreuz in Gold - Hersteller "2" - Juncker

        Hello Lenny,

I totally agree with Ivan, broken or bad condition is always too expensive.

        Here a close-up of Juncker "2"

        Happy collecting!

          DKiG

          hi there,

well, I got this DKig last night. Turned out I traded some items for it, to the value of £650 UKP. I'm more than happy with it. I would probably never get a chance again to get one. I've attached a couple of photos!

I'd rather not have mint items anyway, I like a bit of a story behind them. This one was in a collection from the close of ww2 until about 10 years ago, when my mate got it. The vet had it all those years along with a large german collection!!

            hi there,

you can see the damage to the enamel on the swastika, the top layer of enamel is off a fair bit of it, but you can't see the base metal.

              Hi Lenny,

it's an original DK made from Juncker firm.

The reverse is in very good conditions, but the enamel is really very damage.

I think You can wait, I'm sure you will have again chance to buy one in more good conditions.
In this moment I can understand your emotion and it's hard for you to give back it ( for me is always the same!), but think about it, in this condition offen you find - to Detlev's site too -

              Hope can help my opinion

                DKiG

                hi there,

I know I could get another, but that would cost me money, bit short of that at the moment. I got this for traded items from a guy who I do a website for, I was happy with the deal.

                I must view Detlev's site....

                  Hello Lenny

This is still a very nice DK and I would be more than happy to own it.

                    Dear all,

This one, although looking ok generally, seems to have a huge amount of red showing under the golden wreath, a characteristicum that I found often perceived as "bad" on our forum. Why is it ok on this one?

                    Cheers, Frank H.

                      Frank,

I asked myself the very same question. Seems like a lot of 'red' to me.

I'm no expert on the DK in the least. Just trying to learn.

                        amount of red showing???

                        Hi guys,

Mark, i agree with what you say in principle, but this was a trade with a guy I do a website for, I don't have the money to go buying DKiG's. I'm more than happy with this one, the guy is a friend/dealer and would happily take it back if I got a better one.

As to the amount of red showing, I don't know. All I know is where it came from, and that was a veteran who collected german medals from the war until the 70's. This one came back with him from Germany after the war, was sold to my mate in the late 70's.

Anyone else comment on the amount of red showing???
