    KVK's 1st Cl. w/swords & w/o swords

I am going to hazard a guess & say that these are both Flochs. Bot are marked L15 & are very similar to the thread on the fake KVK's.
    Agreement?
    Thanx,
    Tim

The only thing that puzzles me is this small oval of metal underneath the hinge. Maybe I didn't look far enough into the article.

The 1st Class w/o swords definitely is ... and recently the 1st Class w/ Swords has come under scrutiny as well (marked as L15 or L11). Backplate or not ... IMO they are both fakes.

Well, I went back to the pinned article on the Flochs & rereading it saw that the oval disc under the hinge is what collectors look for in a real L15.
            What do you think???

Tim, the articles that George and Dietrich presented in their EK 1st Class book looked at all these L15 and L11 marked EK and KVK's. Up till then it had been an "accepted" theory that these with the back plate were period. I don't believe that anymore based on this article. I'm not sure what basis was ever given why these were accepted as original in the first place. If you can show that thread or evidence, I'd be interested.

Point taken. When in doubt or there is no proof to support a theory, beware, tread softly & take the safe route. Don't spend my hard earned money on anything even slightly questionable. Like a good friend of mine once said, "Stick with the vanilla ice cream, only vanilla!".
