    Iron Cross Ring

    Good Day, All,

This is my first visit to this forum, so I can only hope I am posting my question in the right category....I have recently acquired a cast pewter ring bearing the Iron Cross on the crown surrounded by 6 oak leaves - 3 on each shoulder - the one shoulder has the letters,"DHG" under the oak leaves and the other has,"1914" under the leaves. The underside of the crown is stamped in block letters with, "PAT.NOV241914". On one side of the band there is some German text stamped in block letters which read (I'll use * for the letters that have worn flat and unreadable),
    "CAB ICH IN******LE Z**L
    IHM GOLD FUR DIESES ****"

I guess I'm asking for any information on this ring as it really has me puzzled, only having a passing knowledge of military history, I initially thought it was a Templar's ring bearing the Maltese Cross but on closer inspection I discovered the above noted engravings etc. I would appreciate anything anyone may offer esp. what the "DHG" might stand for and a translation of the German text. I look forward to hearing from all of you and although I am leaving the country for a week, I will be checking back upon my return with baited breath.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeff GILLIS
