Here I have tried to bring the date out abit on this period photo Streptile posted,I often find by simply inverting a pictures colour can bring out hidden detail . Although the numbers are not clear you can see shadows and you can clearly see the larger space between the 9 and the 3.I will continue to work on this picture but it would far better to work with the original and much better on a big screen like a 50'' plasma or lcd.[IMG][/IMG]

For years I have been a skeptic when it came to this spange. Post #25 has me 99% persuaded that I'm looing at a period piece, as crude as it is. We never stop learning in this hobby. Thank goodness for period photos.

I have no doubts this is a period Spange. There may be copies also, but this type was made in the war.
        Best regards,

Still an ugly piece, but there you go.

its a god aweful looking clasp but i do think it stands a chance of being a pre45 made clasp however i do also think there are probably fakes which is why this clasp gets such bad feedback. personally i would only buy one if it came from the original owner with lots of docs and photos etc

These "proof" where you compare a shady Picture with a new Photo, was that not the excat same way that the rounder was proven real?

And we all know now how that turned out, right?

I am still not a fan of this design, but I know that I am rather alone with that opinion now.

I came across this interesting rare field postcard (Serie) and remember this thread about a Spange with wide placed 19 39.

Its not the same Spange but the wide placed numbers got my attention. Its a field postcard from around 1940/1942!

                    I hope you like it!

I see we're still dancing around with this one....Here's mine
with the maker mark "L/11" for you to look over. I've had
this piece for roughly 10-years now.

So, what's going to be the story on this spange?

I'm interested because I have one as well that is posted here .... An "L/11" stamped

                              Ron.

                                spange

Here is another one that I bought later. When comparing it against the L/11 stamped spanges of this style the differences that I see is the legs have segmented claws and the prongs on the back are placed different.
