An authentic cloth version of the German Cross in Silver is very VERY rare. This is because the cloth version of DKiS was never authorized.
Prices will consequently be accordingly.

Havent laid eyes on such a beast, for a cloth version of the DKiG you would expect anywhere between $400-450 depending on which service it is for. I would be very wary.

i never saw a DK cross in silver cloth version,

for the pricing of a normal one from the heer goes up to 450 and Euros, SS/ Panzer for 600 and more, Luft maybe around 400, this is dealers price of course.

So if the Dk in silver really exists it can be cheap for 450 or 500, but the problem would you be able to sell it again, i would be very suspiciuos if someone offers me a piece like that.

I just had a look at Niemanns catalogue, he says that German cross in silver cloth version, were not allowed to be produced or worn, the few examples that exist are privately manufactured.

So be careful, i might be wrong and hope it s an original and that you have the luck to get one.

heres one being sold as: German Cross in silver cloth version,still on section of Luftwaffe uniformfor about $1400.+

this is the best photo that they had. what do you guys think??

Greg, I can't offer anything regarding the auth. of this award but I will bring an observation forth!

If you 'lighten' the picture it shows evidence of restitching along the edges....the new stitching surely wasn't done by a 'tailor's hand' and the cloth it is stitched to is in far better shape than the award.

So, if the framework is 'made up' there's a very strong possibility that the silver wreath was merely added to a raggy DKiG!

Here is a DGiS cloth version on black backing. I don't think it get's much rarer. And to be honest, I don't care whether authorized or not, here it is. I had to brighten the picture a little bit since the wreath otherwise loks not real silver. But next to a gold wreath it is clear.

Bill Shea had one on Heer backing for sale a while back, I would have bought it if I had the stratch, To be sure you have to like what you are buying, since they were "not officially authorized" does not mean they did not exsist,in my mind anyway. My friend is a reinactor and tells me how combersome the badges are on the tunic, always getting snagged on sleeves, equipment ect. SO if I had been awarded a DK in silver and went into combat once, I am sure the next leave I would have been to the talior and told him to get me a cloth badge, just My 2 cents,

it is beyond doubt that:

a. DKiS did exist (official or not) and,
b. that those are made exactly by the same manufacturers then the "official" DKiG version. Same Wreath, same die flaw, same stiching

The term "privately manufactured" implies "not made by the real official manufacturers". This is wrong. Maybe made under the table, but definetely the same guys.
