    First EK2 for the collection!

Hi. Here is the first EK2 to go into my collection. I thought I would post some pictures and let you guys comment. I know very little about this award.

    Some more

Here are a couple more pics. There is a little paint loss and what appears to be some oxidation / rust to the iron centre / core. What do you guys recommend doing about the rust?

    Thanks.
    Richard.

Thanks Will. I'm very happy with it. I like the "worn" look. If you have any advice as to how best to preserve & display an EK2 with a little rust please let me know.

So, did you get an invite to the wedding? Mine must have got lost in the post!

Ah the wedding.....is it bad of me but.....I am very happy for them but will be avoiding the whole thing

I believe so long as the ek is kept in a dry environment the rust wont spread. I have read some use oil, but I think others frown upon that practice. I would say its fine to leave...its looking good for a 60-70 year old imo

Wow that is really nice cross, it remminds me Zimmerman. About rust I recommend you just keep it in ideal condition. (no wet, good air)

                Hey Richard!

Looks like a realy nice piece!

I knew when I got my first one. I was so glad haha!
Now I'm thinking of it.. It was my first WW2 purchase! From that point on my collection got bigger and bigger. My show-case is almost pouring out
Even if they'd offer me 200 euro's for that, I wouldn't sell it.. To much memories attached

Keep up the good (collecting) work!

Thanks guys. There's just something about the Iron Cross. It looks great in my display case!

I'll keep it in a dry environment and hope the rust doesn't spread.

May be your first but not your last.
