The unit that was stationed in the castle at the end of the war was the signals company of the of the 3rd ID. I ran into a member at one of my motel buys in the 1980s and he sold me an RK KVK cased and an RK oaks cased. He told me that the company he had been in was having a reunion in Iowa that summer and asked me to put on a display at their motel and I accepted. Almost every member who attended had some cased medal and I bought several Eagle Orders, a cased Social Welfare neck order, another RK KVK w/ Swds. Cased, some EKIs cased, and these were just from the ones who were willing to sell. So the rumors are correct the Castle stories were true and a break for all us collectors.

Two or three decades ago, several "Lazy 2" KCs from Klessheim, were sold at an American auction. Think there were German Eagle Orders and KCs of the WMC, too.
