My first Cased EK1 maker "65"

    Hello fellow collectors,

This is my first cased EK1.

Just wondering if the case is also made by the same maker or are these cases used by other makers as well.

took some pictures of the case and cross...

That's a fine "65" you have there, Ian! Sadly i can't comment on the case issue, since mine is uncased. But i can say that linking an unmarked case to specific maker could be difficult..

Some cases are easier to identify like the B H Mayer with the oblong button. Not sure whether this case is identifiable. Superb textbook 65 though, my personal favourite. What a quality piece!

              totally agree with blitz

Cross and the case fits fine, from what I have learnt, there were two large manufacturers of the EK1 case similar to the one you have. These cases were not made by the maker of the cross.
It's like buying a piece of jewelry today. The jeweller will make the ring or watch but the case will be bought in by a different manufacturer. In some cases the maker of the cross could have his mark printed in the box as a sign of quality but again these boxes were probably made outside the makers shop.
The box you have for your 65 fits the cross no problem. I have never seen a personalised 65 box.
              Thanks
              Jack
