I just ran across some old notes I made from one of my many visits with Dr. Klietmann. On this particular visit I took photographs of the Spanish Cross with Diamonds that I had dating back to 1965. It is the example shown by Jack Angolia in 1972 in his book FOR FUHRER AND FATHERLAND. At that time I had never seen an original example of this ultra rare Spanish Cross. Dr. Klietmann told me that I had an original example, but not an awarded example. He explained to me that the firm of Godet, Berlin, produced all examples of the Spanish Crosses with Diamonds with Diamonds that was awarded to the members of the Condor Legion. Unfortunately, here is where my memory failed me. I can't recall if Dr. Klietmann said that Godet produced the entire Spanish cross or took a Spanish cross and added the brilliants. Any information to clarify this would be appreciated.
