    S&L RK w/sharp strike!

This is the 'sharpest strike' I have seen on an S&L cross!! I just got this yesterday and was amazed with the depth of the valleys and height of the ridges!

It hints at absolutely minimal wear to the die and possibly a very early cross!

Magnetic, it weighs 31.8grms with the loop.

Virtually 100% frosting and rhodium remains.

When you say rhodium, I take that to imply that this RK does not have an '800' frame? In that case, surely that implies an early piece.

My 1944 awarded '800' S&L has deep guttering between the ridges, so I don't see how that alone would say 'early' piece.

Rich it is in fact an 800 silver frame! The rhodium is the very shiney finish on the flanges of the arms that form the beautiful contrast to the dull white frosting.

Also Rich...the awarding date has little to do with the date of manufacture!

There are 3/4 ring crosses awarded in '45. Example would be Hans Greiter..awarded the RK on Jan. 13, 1945.

Thanks Biro! There are just some great guys out there and as they 'pound the bushes' looking for stuff they like, an RK or two eventually shows up....or if the 'network' is large enough you tend to HEAR of something comming for sale before it actually does.

I'm trying to get the lighting right to show the stunning contrast between the flat frosting and the flanges!

I will probably never own a real RK but I do admire them.
                        This one is beautiful

Again Dave, very nice cross! I forgot to ask- did the ribbon and case come with it? If the case did, do you have some shots of the hinge and catch you could post? I have reconciled to take apart every case I get and post the images to help with information about these.

                            The photos are stunning.

Tom, that's why I had to buy it as I had an extra case....some logic huh!!!
