    1957 Oaks Ribbon

Following on from the thread ' RK ribbon?'.

Attached photo shows the ribbon that came with one of my 1957 Oakleaves (see current thread 1957 Oakleaves And Oakleaves With Swords - Opinions Please).

In the 'RK ribbon' thread comment was made that a lot of 1957 ribbons have a reinforcing thread that often show white. Mine doesn't but I'm sure that I shouldn't be holding my breath in anticipation that it is an original 1939 piece left over and used in my 1957 set.

I note that the original posted has the zig-zag edge where mine is straight.

My piece does not glow under 'black light'.

Any comments would be gratefully received.

    Regards ...

      Ribbon

It looks like a piece of 57 issue ribbon to me, does not seem to have the "quality" of war time issue, but IS of better quality than repro ribbons found in abundance now.

        Thanks Andy,

This piece of ribbon came from one of the sets shown on the thread on my 1957 Oakleaves as found in the first posting above. Both ribbons are identical which hopefully points to the Oakleaves and Oakleaves with swords being authentic 1957 pieces. The swords being detailed on both sides though is a bit odd and I wish I could find out more about them, but so far, no replies.

If anyone wishes to comment on my two 1957 cased awards then please check out the thread
