Does not confirm to any original piece that I have ever seen, I would pass on this one.<O</O

Combo's are always tricky and i don't see why this one would be any different.
Browsing through Gordons book, i couldn't find an exact match for the Spange, witch is one thing. The other is the joint between the two. It seems a bit crude to my eye. Just some observations..

I find it interesting that the frame and beading does indeed match L/57 marked 1939 Boerger EK1s to a T. This makes it interesting enough for me to investigate further, one I would not yet write off.

              Sorry to interrupt, guys!

              Hi, Albert!

              Frank,
I have a basic question about the pin on the EK. It seems to be made of brass along with the hinge assembly. Brass pins are sometimes found on EKs from the 30's and earlier, but I was under the impression that EK1 pins made during the 40's were not made of brass. Am I incorrect in this assumption?

              Hopefully I am!

                Dear Eric,

Two examples from my collection (both 1939):

...every combo without an attaching devise on the spagne is very suspicious....you should try to wear one of these...

I am not sure about the cross itself. The frame looks good but I don't know
about the CROWN. Oddly shaped and poor detail. Could this be what Rick
                        calls the muffin crown?

What about the eagle, does it look ok?
It looks to me that the eagle was cast,
There is a little defect on the left wing,
                          Which looks like casting defect.
Does it make it more suspect?

                            Nope,

That is not the 'muffin crown' that Rick has described. I think that we need to focus on the Spange instead of the cross itself...

In the last picture the spange surface does look to be porous like a casting.
