I'm not sure I'd go that far, based on other copy RK's seen in the past, but certainly the photos aren't enough to know what it really is. One more look:

George - What do you think about what you are seeing? A copy? A variant? More photos needed to judge?

OK thanks, that's what I had thought. Pity though because there are very few pieces that I have seen with 835 silver... one is the spanish cross in silver with swords (marked 835 on the reverse) and this type of RK.

What is interesting is that the SC is attributed to Deumer and now there is speculation around these RK's and if they have a connection to Deumer.

But if the 835 marked RK's are post war then perhaps it's purely a coincidence...unless the post-war RK's marked 835 were made by Deumer...

        Interesting linkage there, Richard.

Can anyone else think of another wartime decoration marked '835'?

By the way, getting back to the actual cross which started this thread, has anyone seen a fake of a Schickle like this before?

No, and no. Interesting that the finish on this cross is similiar to the finish on my 57 Schickle RK. I 'm still a little confused, is the consensus, a 'new' fake, or a post war copy made by Schickle?

Bringing this back up to the top because Dietrich has now confirmed that this cross is a real Schickle, with highly unusual, but 100% real, Godet Oakleaves without either the '21' or 'L/50 - SiLBER' stamps, and having more of an S&L style loop than a Godet loop.

            for Dietrich.

Ops, sorry! I didn´t know you were so easily offended. It wasn´t my intention to hurt anyone.

Just an interesting comparison: The cross from this thread (and also see http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...light=schickle) now identified as a Schickle, and a photo from Gordon Williamson of a cross with Oakleaves on a Deumer card (now in the Shropshire Light Infantry Museum), also thought, because of its flattened ring and date style, to be a Schickle. In combination with the possibilities raised in another recent thread (http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=479018) it would appear that S&L may not have been the only RK maker in Ludenscheid at all.
