Mayers Spange
Trevor, have you seen this type of pin on a Mayers second pattern before? The obverse definately looks Mayers, but the pin set up resembles more like that of a Meybauer or possibly one of the unknown maker set ups. We have a slew of spange experts here, maybe someone else will chime in and educate us here. please?

I have not been much part of the discussions, but I was left wondering why this item was put up for discussion vs. others I have seen this week (e.g. the luft brocade, which the discussion did not arouse much debate, and the L marked EK2). I do not see anything wrong with the item put for sale except that is overpriced for the current market conditions.

looks like a good 'short vien' die L/18
the L/17 mark is fun.
L/17 used L/13's spangen and marked them L/17 (and added their own pin)
although this info is based on but a handful of known examples
maybe this is an L/18 spangen bought by L/17, who also added one of their own pins?
maybe they even had a box of UnknownMaker pins!
regards

Finally a moderator has said something about this item...
I was talking with Gerald about my doubts with the set and this is the the thread opened for me about the case: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=448470
The spange seems a L/18 but with another diferent pin like a L/13 - L/17 or an unknown maker and I have the same opinion like Jon
I really think that this discussion is correct and it have been delayed
Really the set is wrong or it's ok?
it's very interensant for the case, the mark of the case, the wrong spange into the case, the pin of the spange and for the similarity of the pin in the L/17 and in this L/18 into the L/17 case.
Really this set need a discussion
;-)
