Hi guys,

Someone offered me this piece a few days back and I didn't know where to put it. It doesn't match any of the copies I know of. I like the catch, it reminds me of the catchplate used on cupal Juncker pieces, but what about the blockhinge? Also do you guys think this is nickle silver?

it's what we call an early 'L/57 looker'
I've never seen it with a hinge, or hook like that, or even reverse finishing like that
I can't be 100%, it's either good, or a real good repro!
how is it 'in hand'? does it seem like silver?

I think it is good, if you compare it to mine and look at the nine between the bottom and hook it appears to have a flaw. I had to get mine out to have a good look at it and this area has no pimples (bumps) and Giels appears to have the same flaw (for lack of a better word). My concern is the back - the pin setup and why did someone use a file on the edges. Jim

Why should someone file not so nice on the edges?
This should be a early one piece and then you should expect better work IMO

Wonderful EK1 spange ! I always want one , but I did't find someone sell this .
