    S&L RK

I was wondering if someone would take a look at a S&L RK. This looks like the images of other RKs posted here. It is listed at
    www.germandaggers.com
However, I am a novice and have afew questions. There appears to be aline in the paint on the interior edge of the beading on the superior portion of the left arm of the cross. Does this indicate repainting? There appears a flaw on the swastika. Die flaw or repainted over rust? There appears speckles on the black paint on the front of the cross. There appears to be some sort of flaw in the beading at 4 oclock. Also, the "1" in the "1939" appears higher than the other digits, which appears on some S&Ls posted here. What do you think? I tried to post these images, but apparently it says the file is too big. I ahve better close -up images on my computer I can email. If anyone is interested, I can email the images to you> Thanks Tom H

    Sorry- the specific link is

    www.craiggottlieb.com/catalog.htm

The other one will get you there as well with a few more clicks. Thanks for any opinions. Even those regarding my personal appearance or limited intelligence would be appreciated.

It looks like there's paint on the beading of the upper arm, too.

        Thanks George,

Ironically, I was trolling through this site and noted this cross was posted by David Kane under the topic "flawed S&L RK on Detlev's site" on page 20 or 21 of the thread. He said something about a replaced core. Is this the case here? It seems the identical cross.

          Now you've done it Tom!!
However, I don't recall my assertion of a replaced core. Spend some time with that massive thread and then post (your) picture here for further discussion.

It should make a great Xmas Eve topic!!

          Dave
          Regards,
          Dave

            Hello Dave-
I tried to post photos but it said the file size was too large. I can email the photos to you if you know how to do it. Once again, I am sorry for my computer ignorance. I am sorry if it was not politcally correct to post your name associated with this image. It just seemed like literally the identical cross and would allow others to easily identify it on the post. You seem to have a tremendous wealth of knowledge related to these pieces and your input is appreciated. Thanks Tom H

                    okay-
I think I have reformatted the images of this and have them attached. If so, this is a red letter day for me in being able to understand these damn computers. Believe it or not, I actually used to program computers 23 years ago with that terrible MS DOS, in which you had to write your own code.

So I read the thread (all 21 pages of it again) regarding the S&L RKs. You guys have posted extensively on this and it seems as though Dave and George feel as though there were pre-1945 S&L RKs with flaws. Propser Keating( why was he expelled) seemed to be the definitive disenter, with knowledge of shady underworld types who forge and deal in drugs and international crime. I have read what you think about these. What do you think about this one in particular? Thanks

Well, it's Christmas, almost, and you have enough faith in the Christmas Flaw, the price isn't too bad with case included.

I assume then Brian that you feel as though these are post war fakes? Does this particular cross appear as well to fit in that category? If so, what specifically do you see that leads you to that conclusion? Thanks. I had pointed out a few specfic details from the images that I. as a novice, could see and was wondering related to this specific cross whether it was felt original or flawed. Thanks. Tom H
