no idea about the cross but the maker mark is for sure a fake, L/52 never used this kind of markings.

Core is a "Deumer Schinkel" lookalike. Cokebottle pin with the wrong hinge. Wide "Zimmermann style" beading. Never saw a Schinkel like this before, think it's a fake, sorry...

Here's a 1914 mmL/52 C F Zimmermann Screwback made in the TR-era just bought on the E-Stand (Pic belongs to Dogtagman). The frames are Schinkel style and should match the cross in post 1 but it doesn't.

Somewhat convincing from the front, awful from the reverse.

I agree. And then it 's impossible to have a Schinkel with an LDO maker, this production was abandoned before introduction of LDO list.

Good point. There is an 1870 EK1 which, until today, I wasn't 100% sure about. Some said it may have been a WWI replacement piece, but now I think it's by the same maker/faker who did this Schinkel. Do you guys agree?

Looks to be the same maker, Robert.

How long have these fakes been around?

My comparison montage turned out smaller than I hoped when posted, but examining the crosses close up in the high-res photos leads me to conclude that the 1870 EK1 shown is indeed a fake made by the same people.

                          I have no idea, Trevor.

Other than the date the obverse is pretty good! The pin has a decent Deschler, Mayer or early L59 look also. I think the Etui has a good chance, Would like to see it posted in the case and packet forum for discussion.
