65mm EK1 with really ugly other cross

This is a pair of crosses I just picked up.

The KO marked EKI looks like a mint example to me - is it a good one?

As far as the other one, it is an unmarked example with an oddly formed swastika (the material doesn't appear to have been fully removed from the swastika arms), the 1939 date is skewed severely to one side, and the overall quality is poor. The pin is magnetic as is the cross center. Is it just a crappy fake, or a late war example?

Hi Robert.

The "65" marked K+Q (not KO, an Imperial EK maker) is a stunner! Congratulations.

The other one seems to be a Souval. Whether it's authentic or not... I'm not sure. Check here.

The K&Q is a beaut, congrats. Like Trevor said the unmarked cross looks like a Souval frame (rounded inner corners).

Just done a quick search, the core looks pretty similar to this one http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ght=souval+ek1 Looks like an original (very rough) Souval.

Good eye, Paul! Looks like the 65 cross got into the wrong case then - according to the (fine) link you sent, the case markings should go with the Souval cross.

That is definately the cross - the swastika almost looks elevated on a square base.

Nice K&Q and wartime Souval i wouldnt mix the cases up, leave them like it is in the photos i doubt theyve been mixed up
