    New Ek1 Spange My First!

Looks like a fake in my opinion. Maybe the Floch fake.
Missing details, and the overall shape.

Also looks like it has been polished to the "ground". Lots of details is gone.

But wait for Ben and Jon

I THINK it's a ground dug example with a replaced pin, but it looks like a good B.H. Mayer to me.

        Best regards,
        Ben

If it is a ground dougone, then that could explain why it looks like some one really did polish it that much.
I was going through my fake files, and did find one who really did look like the front of this one.

I hope that it is a good one.

            Hi Brien
looks like a good L/18 to me, a tad battered, but nice
the pin may be replaced, as this is not the standard L/18 pin, but hinge and catch are A-OK
can you show closer pics of this pin?
The history of this one may always be a mystery. A wartime pin replacement is possible. Also as Ben points out, someone may have banged on a new pin post war...
            more pics could help
regardless of all that, I like interesting clasps, IMO there's an authentic wartime spange in there, and I'll buy it!
            regards
            jon

              actually haha!
looking again, this probably IS an L/18 pin, just bent!
It could be 100% OK, just had a hard life
              regards

                pics

Thanks so much for the input thus far folks, I paid a triple figure for it so I thank everyone for the expertise. I bought it from a reputable dealer in Canada and he does have a no questions asked guarantee but it has a time limit. I'd really rather not use it though.

I'll try and get some pics of the catch. I am right in the middle of moving into my first home I have a nikon Coolpix L12 can anyone suggest a good setting for posting on the forum???

                  Hello there,

I don't see anything wrong with this one.

do a kind of side shot if you can
but I'm pretty sure it's fine

I had a Coolpix a few years ago, the macro stopped working, so I held my loupe up against the lens, worked great

                    regards
                    jon
