    Where they kept their Iron Crosses...

    I was just thinking, If a soldier was awarded an EK2 in the field or whilst away from home, where did they keep their EK2? I know that the ribbon would be put in a button hole to show the award, but I wouldn't want to lose it whilst I was at my post

    Some probably sent it home, some had it in a pocket and brought it home while on leave.

    It wasn't something to wear, so the cross was just dead weight...

    And it was probably sent home if the soldier died.

      depends on the soldier!some of them bought lined boxes for them others threw them in a cupboard! though alot would have them parade mounted!
