KVK 1st Your help with £$ please :)

Hi guys after a bit of help here, iam struggling to value this kvk, i recently purchased a ek2, (souval, which you may remember the discussion thread) a few days back. I paid the going rate for that as we'd see it on the estand, however when i let the buyer know it had arrived he asked me to i'd another medal, the kvk shown below, looks to me like a good S&L mm4 the hinge is off and its showing abit of aging, i'd like it for my collection but i dont know what the condition and damage has done to the value, i dont want to pay over the odds and also not wanting to fleece the guy.

ive got a price i think its worth but i'd be grateful if you'd share your thoughts, pic quality isnt 100% but we've all seen far worse

    thanks mike

Would £60-£80 be too low? I'd probably pay that tops.

hi Mike, just needs the hinge re-soldering, and you've got a good cross, i'd pay just under a ton for it, maybe £90-£95 (or less if poss) -Nigel

I would go for the lower end of that range.
Trouble is though Mike, what it might be worth to one person over another might vary considerably. I think you have to have the figure you are willing to pay and what it is worth to you and go with that.

I don't know if it's the picture, but the finish puts me off it... I agree with Adrian though.

I probably wouldn't pay any more than $100US.

I have a bias when it comes to these crosses.

I prefer the Tombac as they tend to keep their finish better than the later war zinc examples.

            Just my opinion.

As a matter of fact, let me elaborate rather than smile and wink at the silly question. I hate people like this, the "book nerds" who are unwilling to work with the seller over something for fear they might get "ripped off". Really annoying to say the least. Let me tell you this, as it seems you're new after reading this sentence:

"i'd like it for my collection but i dont know what the condition and damage has done to the value, i dont want to pay over the odds and also not wanting to fleece the guy. "

If you're worried about throwing out offers or you are doing it invest in something you think might gain value ~ you're doing it for the wrong reasons.

At any rate $100-$120USD would be top value. But again, everything is up to how much YOU really want it and how much the seller really wants to sell it for.

Chris: i love you too i hope you dont have sleepness nights worrying about me and my collecting habits, theres a really good smiley missing from the forum that would go great here, ohwell i was hoping to put the kids through university, upgrade the aston martin next year with this purchase, is it not an investment piece?

Thats quite a funny retort. Glad Ive now lost my title of being the immature one on the forum. My reply was not meant as ignorant, rather to give you an idea. You took it sideways and therefore have annoyed me. Your childish remark about losing sleep actually does have me worried. It pains me to see that mentally incapable people have adopted this hobby and care nothing about learning or understanding the history behind what they collect rather; "what is the price of this"; being the most common question as of late.

I wish you well on your endeavours. Looks like you're going to need it.

I do wonder why people argue on the internet, hiding behind a computer playing the big man, and claiming others are mentally incapable, well i glad you werent one of my tutors on my uni degree or masters degree or i'd probably have ended up being a miserable muppet posting useless comments on online forums, i imagine your 69 posts over 6 years here have been all helpful and usefull to the collecting community, that i doubt considerably looking at the two examples here.

if you dont like the post dont read it, its really not differcult, iam sure you'll post many more boring comments in future threads of which we'll waste time reading to end thinking what is this chap on about? It seems in whatever part of life we travel theres always one....

                    Please dont have nightmares
