Stu and others, my apologys, I thought I had seen an example of a dipping 3 core on a Souval EK2 very recently on the forum but I've spent time searching through many threads and posts and have been unable to find it so it is very likely I made an error on this and got it confused with something else.

"Yes, the jump ring should only be soldered to the front although that one has more of a gap on the back than I would have expected."

Don't forget that there have been over sixty years for people to "play" with this cross. The gap on the reverse could have been opened up anytime by anyone who was examining the piece carelessly.

Hi Adrian...no worries...it's good to check these things now and then to ensure our collective knowledge base is kept up to date. Now we will wait and see what Kevin finds.

Hi George...I agree with you that handling has probably been the cause of the ring opening over time.

        Regards,
        Stu
