What's up with this EK2!?

Gents,

Got this in a recent swap. Unmarked EK2. The finish on the obvese seems a bit odd compared to the reverse but I'm unsure whether it is just mottling from age/storage. Compare to the reverse which is nearly perfect and a nice matte ever-so-slightly textured finish.

Frame seems okay to be but the centre troubles me. I welcome all comments and insights...any idea what maker this likely is?

Looks like a nice, lightly worn piece to me, does the ribbon react to a blacklight?

Hi Dez!

You know sometime after I stopped collecting German items about 10 years ago (just started again recently) I got rid of the blacklight I had...

I'm pretty sure the ribbon is good though, it came from an excellent source (Vet's son along with the father's Canadian WWII medals and some other German bits)

I'll try to find a blacklight and give it a go!
