    Killer EKII mm 58

Hi, here is a killer EKII from my collection, maker marked 58 on the ring. The cross has a magnetic core and is of the usual three piece construction, it also has the hump on the top arm. All opinions are welcome.

      Hello Kai,

your cross is a Wächtler & Lange with a post war stamp in the ring.

The cross itselfs is a good one, but not the makers mark....

I agree with Oliver, its a very nice Wachtler & Lange (100) with the addition of an incorrect makers mark. Maker '58' - Artur Jakel & Co. didn't make EKs.

              I agree with Oliver & Adrian that is a W & L , but still a nice cross all the same .

Hi, thanks all for your opinions! I have had a look around and I will agree it does look like a W & L cross. And with the maker 58 not actually making EKII's during the period then it looks like it has been post war marked on the ribbon ring! I dont know why someone would do this as the cross itself is a beauty, but it is what it is!!

Yep, they're all correct - it has all the characteristics of a Wächtler & Lange. It is very nice, though. You might want to see about getting a piece of original ribbon to put through the ring, to hide the 58 mark.

Possibly the ring has been replaced at some time unless the 58 mark doesn't resemble the pre 1945 font.

Hi John, I have some ribbon for it bud. Well, after loking closely at the ring it looks to be original and it's just the 58 mark that has been later applied. Thanks all for your help and compliments on this one!

I find it a bit scary that they can make a mark like that on the ring
That W&L is a bit obvious with that number, but other crosses
                        marked could be a problem.
                        Regards
