1st Class EK question and a Document to a Soldier KIA at Stalingrad

    Hello folks,
I have had this EK a long time and I plan on displaying it with a 1st clas document to a soldier killed at Stalingrad. I also have the man's EK 2nd class, Eastern Front, and Black Wound badge documents.

Is the maker of this cross Rudolf Waechtler und Lange (#100)?

    Thank You,
    Jody

            Hi Hank,
Thank you and that is great and a diamond winner to boot. I guess getting the diamonds ended up getting him killed. So much for visiting the Fuehrer.

            Regards,
            Jody

              Hello Hank,
It looks like Hube signed his 2nd class document as well. Look at the dates on both documents he got them almost exactly a year apart.

              Regards,
              Jody

The top beading row is "scrunched" (more beading than on the other arms), and it also has the flaw on the right beading of the 12 o'clock arm near the cross center (a few of the beads there are also "scrunched"), making your cross a textbook W&L. Nice cross and document!

For a lowly infantry obergefreiter to get the EKI this early he must have REALLY earned it. It's a long shot but just sometimes you can pick up the name, action and award in amongst the surviving unit records.
