    Unmarked Knights Cross

    Hi,

I have a Knight's Cross in my possession that is umarked. Is it possible for a true Knight's Cross to be unmarked, it's measurements are correct, haven't weighed it yet, is two pieces, iron in the middle.

Received when my father, a Wehrmacht veteran passed in '07. He is not on any known list, but said to have received this toward the end of 1944.

    Seems rather odd:

    1. That he is not on any known lists when an award date of late 1944 is still in the time frame of accurate award records.

    2. A cross this late in the war would be unmarked. You would think it would have the Prasidialkanzlei number or a Silver content mark. Possible that it was an earlier piece awarded later on, but doubtful.
