Gee, that cross has really been worn/polished! But as long as the buyer is aware and satisfied, everything is all right! I have seen worse...

thanks to all for the opinions and comments. It is definitely an iteresting debate. If you cannot afford an untouched RK are you better off buying something that is retouched or saving up and waiting for the 'right' cross. I had hoped I would be happy with a repaired cross but...

I think that just comes down to personal choice and personal circumstances. As desirable as an original untouched RK is, you still have an RK at a good price.

I also have to say that Detlev was upfront about it, and real cool. I have decided to return it and save up for an untouched one and he understood completely and no problems. Then again that is why I will continue to buy from him also.

I had a good conversation with a friend last night about this cross. We were talking about when you have a piece like this you end up thinking about what it could be or how it could be upgraded and you're never really happy... RKs are a big investment and I need to make sure I make one that i will be happy with for years to come.

Thanks again for all the opinions/comments!

              Stefan,

if I would have the benefit of normal people on this planet I would have known that, too. But since I do not have the privilege to view this site I had to reconstruct the events and the text. And I certainly don't have the whole Niemann offering at my computer ...
However, the cross is NOT in all parts a Juncker. But as I said: if it was known to the buyer - no harm done.

                Jason.
                You made the right decision.
When the right cross comes along................and they always do...........you can enjoy it for life, with no 'nagging doubts'.

I think it also was the rigt decision, Jason. There are so many nicethings you can buy from that amount of money.

                  Hello Dietrich,

to view pictures on Niemann's site just click on the button "register" and fill in your dates. If you need help, just ask.

                  kind regards,
                  Stefan

                    Stef,

it is not that and I am tired to say again and again why I am not allowed to view the site ... And I am really very good with computers. I might be old - but I'm not stupid!

I have had a few people ask me why I did not tell them it came from Detlev and the details at first... I wanted to give the community a chance to respond about the cross itself, not its source or story. It was a very interesting response and educational in many ways. I did buy the cross knowing the issues with it, but I was interested in seeing the reaction and feeling out my response to it. I had done some reading before on the pros/cons of buying restored items but it wasn't until I actually bought one and shared it that I was able to figure out my own opinion.

We all learn a lot in this hobby and it is experiences like this that give us the chance.

In fact when I was at Dietrich's house I was unable to log on to Detlev's site with my password. All of that part of Michigan must be cursed because of one!

                          A wise decision.
Don't believe everything you read on the internet, that's how WWI got started.

I believe D-Man has had his IP address banned from the other D-Man's site

Doesn't work like here where banned individuals can relog in under false ID's

i cant log in to Detlevs page either, and it started when I retruned a fake CCC and they told me that the package was empty on arrival. No access and 600 short.

Jason, return that RK, use the money I sent you and you will be able to buy a nice good one.
