    EK1 Fake Database/ opinion on a EK1

Hi guys,,maybe I'm blind,,I'm just not seeing it,,but is there a reference section/database for fake ek1's?? somewhere on this forum? I'm researching this piece. The pin and catch look funky but what would you say if this example came directly out of a vets footlocker?? Looking forward to replies Thanks

I really dont know what to say about this cross. the front looks convincing and as you said, the other side is funky, and not correct.
Is this an unknown maker? or a replaced pin/catch hinge? or just a brand new fake?

          Also, check this section called:
Crosses of the Wehrmacht Fake Gallery
          url: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...splay.php?f=68

by the way, those die flaws looks kinda home made/fake but im interested about other opinions as well

who ever did assemble this cross, did a really lousy job. Look at the hugh gaps filled with solder.

so what is this? an unknown maker? can anyone recognize the front?
the beading is really bad, but still really filled with flaws

I like this cross. IMO frame & pin 100% unknown maker.
With the core ??? I don't know! But I like the cross

I have nothing in my files that remotely resembles this frame and hardware. I like the patina, the flaws, the overall core. But that pin, my goodness. These are better photos than what I saw of it before. I have nothing against the cross, primarily because of where it came from - out of a vet's personal war trunk. We as collectors don't know all things. The pin looks like one of those Polish or Latvian fakes, whatever. But, for some reason, I find myself liking it too. In time we'll know more. So much for the textbook analysis.

what about the insanely amounts of cross hatching? and all the die flaws.
Isn't that a sign that the cross was made from well used equipment?

If this 'maker' made loads of other crosses, shouldn't we expect to see other examples?
I really like the look of this cross, the worn back side, the date, the paint, and the patina etc, but we all know this can be faked. I really do not think this is an original cross, but I wouldn't throw it away of course. I'm just skeptical when it comes to new things like this, and I would like to see better pictures.
