Your original "62' KVKI has a variant pin. Normally the 62's pin is tapered. This pin strongly resembles that of a '43', shown here...

              Hi Robert,
Thanks for pointing that out. Interesting. Are they common with that pin? I've noticed that nachtundnebel also has a cased 62 with same pin set up on estand at the moment. I wonder if he's aware of this as well.

              Regards,
              AB.

Oh yeah, it was discussed here: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=261852

I was curious and bought it and just like yours I don't see anything wrong that stands out. No repairs etc so I believe too it's a variant of some sort.

I had a vacant mm62 case, put them together and is now selling the pair to finance some other purchaces.

Thanks Frank for the link. I like it even more now.
I'd still like to know just how common they are. I've searched the forum but no luck. Surely there must be more of them but as yet I haven't seen any other than frank's. I would like to see a couple more so if anyone has one please post it.

                  Regards,

                    Andrew,

It is my experience, and my reference books also show (the lack thereof), this variation is not 'common'. The common, or 'textbook' example of this maker is the bottle-shaped pin. You have a very nice variation, and again, in extremely nice condition.

                      Thanks Robert.
That was the response I was hoping the hear. It's always nice to have something thats not common.
