        Food for thought...

        Here is a Souval EK1 (L/58) pictured next to an L15 EK1. The Souval is from a small group to a Matrosenobergefreiter who won both the EK2 and EK1 (I have both crosses, including the EK2 packet and the EK1 case, as well as the accompanying documents). The cross is non magnetic - the core appears to be brass and I have no reason to believe that this is not the original awarded cross. The L15 is absolutely identical to both the initial EK posted by Dietrich on this thread as well as the one on page 144 of Gordon's book. To me the frames look exactly the same (including the die flaw) but they have different cores.

        Thoughts?

          May we see a picture of the reverses of those two crosses?

            Here's the reverse of the two crosses above (although now the L15 is on the left). The Souval has L/58 marked on the pin.

              just re-reading this thread, and trying to make sense of it all!
              I've shown these before, but thought they're better seen here.
              2 souval frames, 2 different cores, no maker marks...
