Couple of Floch's through the Cracks?

I saw these two on Detlev's update today. The KVK1 is for sure a Floch, the L15 EK1 appears to be one as well ....

I think the EK1 is good, The L 15 with long type needle and 12 oclock dimple. Nice thin swaz also.

You could be correct Dion. Not the greatest pics.

The KVK is a textbook Floch ... no question about that one.

You would no better on that one then me Darrel, the only reason I thought it was good is the pin looks longer then those stubby coke bottle Floch pins. Thank God he used those because they are easy to spot. I thought the one on the KVK looked longer, could be the angle of the shot.

The KVK is indeed a Floch. (Ups)
The EK I is an original L15 with Orth EK parts.

                Regards

I would tend to agree the more I look at the EK1

Believe you have a good point Darrell. The kvk1 looks very much like a Floch.

Wonder about the L/11 kvk1 with swords. The cross looks ok but first time I've seen one with the mm under the catch. Usually the mm sits smack in the middle of the cross and not under the catch like on a EK1

I have a question......what do you mean by a "Floch" I assume its the maker but I think I may of read posts where Floch made replica items?

Please enlighten a young (and very new) collector.

                      Please and Thanks,

                        Please and Thanks,
Yes, Mr. Floch is notorious for Reproductions (aka fakes) of decent quality. Not too many around have not been "Floched" at one point or another. He hails from Austria.

His wares include EK2, EK1, KVK1, Wound Badges and Arm Shields to name a few.

Here is a link to Peter Wiking's excellent article on Floches. You can spot the textbook Floch items very easily once you learn the key characteristics. However, some features belong to authentic items that are sometimes confused to be fake.

Thanks for the quick reply Darrell!

Wouldnt an expert like Mr. Niemann be able to identify the KVK1 as a fake? Or did he label it as that?

Well, good point. However, alot of these dealers have huge staffs that do alot of the updates for him. That being said, they should be able to recognize these obvious Floches by now.

But honest mistakes do happen and these have popped up more than once on ALL dealer sites at one point or another.

The good thing about Detlev, he knows the KVK1 is a fake and will remove / refund the seller if it is brought to his attention.

It's the dealers (sellers) that know and refuse to rectify errors like this that give the hobby a bad name.

I was serching for KVK1 with L15 makers here on our forum, when I saw this post from Darrel about KVK1 on DN uptade.

You guys talk about textbook Floch, But I see this same Picture of KVK1 on Detlevs "Archive of Orginals"
                              http://www.detlev-niemann.com/en/cat.../123/1160.html
For those who don´t have access.. it´s the same picture.

Is DN not accepting this KVK1 L15 w/o swords as a Floch fake? Or are we looking at it wrong?
